STEVEN GRUENWALD

          Steve Gruenwald has been an attorney with the Defense Contract Management Agency since its formation in May 2000, and currently serves as Contracts Counsel for DCMA Central Regional Command.  He was previously Counsel of DCMA Chicago, and held that same position with the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) beginning in 1994.  His previous DLA positions include Associate District Counsel for Fraud Remedies, DCMD North Central (1989–94); Staff Attorney, Clothing and Textiles Fraud Remedies Unit (Defense Personnel Support Center), 1987–89; Assistant Fraud Counsel, Defense Personnel Support Center (1986–87); and Assistant Counsel, Litigation, Fraud and Services, DPSC (1985–86).

          Prior to joining DLA Steve was an active duty Air Force Judge Advocate (1980–84) and served at Hanscom AFB, Massachusetts, as Claims Officer, Chief of Civil Law, and Environmental Law Advisor; and at US Naval Station Keflavik, Iceland, as Assistant Recorder, US–Iceland Defense Counsel, practicing military operations law and international law and relations.  He served as a Reserve Judge Advocate, on the Air Force Headquarters Claims and Tort Litigation Staff and subsequently at O’Hare Air Reserve Station, from 1985 to 1997.  He also was employed briefly in private practice on Long Island, NY (1979–80).  His experience includes military and civilian criminal law, and general tort law, ethics for Government employees and contractors, Federal personnel law and labor relations, and most aspects of Federal contracts and fiscal law.  He has been a charter member of the DLA Fiscal Law Center, and is active in law office automation.
